You don’t have to work by yourself to purchase Individual Medical Coverage.

Some of us are between jobs, some of us are self-employed, some of us work for companies that do not offer group medical programs, or only pay for the employee, not family members. Best Source LLC can find you an individual policy. Best source uses technology, like many other firms, to search out Preferred Benefit Rates. But then Best Source also factors in a deep knowledge of the benefits provisions, the exclusions and the underwriting practices of each company to steer you to the best policy for you.

INDIVIDUAL MEDICAL COVERAGE

Advantages to Individuals

For those recently laid off, individual coverage may offer a better value than the former employer’s COBRA continuation. For the self employed, premiums for individual policies are now fully deductible from income. For the “employed but uninsured,” individual polices are the only alternative.

An Alternative to COBRA
If you’re laid off from an employer of 20 or more employees, and which provided a group medical plan, you should have been offered “COBRA Continuation” for 18 months. Is it the best alternative? It may or may not be. In large employers, the premium you must pay for COBRA continuation is calculated as 102% of the premium (or premium equivalent for self-funded plans) that the employer paid for coverage. Essentially, this is an average cost for the entire group, plus a 2% administration fee.

If you and your family are somewhat younger than the average employee at your former employer, or if you are considerably healthier, you may find that a comparable coverage is less costly than the COBRA continuation coverage.

Considerations for All Who May Need Individual Coverage
If you are willing to take a plan with higher deductibles, co-pays and co-insurance percentages, or go without coverage for some conditions that are not of concern to you (examples may be pregnancy or drug abuse treatment), you may also find a more affordable coverage.

You may also want to get a plan that is truly insurance against catastrophic occurrences—that is, when you are hospitalized—and forego coverage for office visits and prescription drugs. Again, this may dramatically reduce your premiums.
Whatever the reason for your need, Best Source LLC can discuss your alternatives and source a policy that meets your needs.

Health Savings Accounts:

Instead of paying high monthly insurance premiums for care you may never need, consider purchasing a High Deductible Health Plan, and channeling premium savings as high as 50% into a Health Savings Account. Tax free deposits, tax free growth and tax free withdrawal for medical, dental and vision needs.

Lower premiums, simplicity, protection against the big claims, and a tax free Health Savings Account to use on small claims. It makes a lot of sense for most people. For more information on High Deductible Health Plans / Health Savings Accounts, Contact Best Source LLC
